Flight cancelled? Ask ChatGPT or Claude with SOS Flights tools

Short answer: SOS Flights runs a free MCP server at https://www.sosflights.help/mcp. Add it to ChatGPT, Claude or any MCP client. You need no login and no account. Then ask about your flight in plain words. The assistant checks your EU261, UK261 or US DOT rights, writes what to say at the desk, and searches live alternative flights.

What the SOS Flights tools do

The server gives your assistant nine tools. You can use four of them for free. They need no sign-up.

The tools never book, cancel or change your booking. They advise. You decide.

Set it up in two minutes

1. ChatGPT: Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings → Developer mode. Choose Create. Paste https://www.sosflights.help/mcp. Choose no authentication.
2. Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Paste the same URL.
3. Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http sosflights https://www.sosflights.help/mcp.
4. Any other MCP client: add a remote server with Streamable HTTP transport and the same URL.

What to type when your flight breaks

Write like you would text a friend. Give the airports, the airline and what happened. For example:

"My Ryanair flight from Vienna to Barcelona is cancelled tonight. They say it is a technical problem. What are my rights, and what do I say at the desk?"

The assistant calls sos_check_rights and sos_desk_script. You get your options, the care you are owed and a script to read aloud. Then ask: "Find me another flight tonight, also from nearby airports." It calls sos_find_alternatives.

A real answer, from the live server

We asked the server about a cancelled flight from Vienna (VIE) to Barcelona (BCN), with an overnight wait and a technical cause. This is a summary of what it returned:

• Law: EU261, because the flight departs from an EU airport.
• Options: a refund within 7 days, re-routing at the earliest opportunity (also on another airline), or re-routing at a later date of your choice.
• Care: meals, two calls or messages, a hotel and transport to it.
• Later: a compensation range, with the conditions that apply.
• Desk script: "Under EU Regulation 261/2004, please re-route me to my final destination at the earliest opportunity, including on another airline if that is sooner."

Why use the tools and not a plain chatbot?

A plain chatbot answers from memory. It can mix up countries, thresholds and amounts. The SOS Flights tools return structured results:

Is my data safe?
